Billion-dollar club member Actifio expands data storage software

Actifio is branching out.

Already one of the Boston area’s fastest-growing tech companies for its data storage technology, the Waltham-based firm today announced the first in a series of planned expansions of its product portfolio.

To date, Actifio’s technology has allowed companies to dramatically reduce the number of copies of data that they need to make in their data centers. The system produces a major savings in cost and quicker retrieval of the data, according to the firm.

Today Actifio is expanding the system to also serve any branch office that’s looking to move data into cloud storage services such as Amazon Web Services.

The expansion allows Actifio to be extended to “every part of where the data lies,” said Actifio founder and chief executive Ash Ashutosh. “This is the first of the wave of our ‘Actifio Anywhere’ strategy.”
